그들은 시를 통하여 인간사의 喜怒哀樂을 표현하였다.
기쁘고 슬픈 감정들,
만남과 이별,
그리고 풍자와 해학......
시는 이러한 감정을 담아내는 훌륭한 매체였다.
書道란
글씨 쓰기를 통하여
道에 이르고자 하는 바람의 표현이었다.
그러므로 선비들은
어려서부터 글씨를 쓰기 시작하여
나이가 들수록 원숙한 경지를 이루고자 노력하였다.
선비들의 그림인 文人畵는
전문 화가들의 그림과는 달리
사실과 얼마나 닮았느냐를 중시하지 않고
그림 속에 기개와 정신을 담고자 하였다.
그래서
‘뜻을 그린 그림’
또는
‘마음을 그린 그림’이라고 부른다.
